Since I’m having company tomorrow and I’m making Coca Cola Brisket I thought for Beth’s Carnival of Recipes I would submit this. It’s very tender, wonderful touch of spices and big enough for a group of people.
This only takes about 15 minutes to put together and about 3 hours bake time, so with the serving suggestions I’ve put below you end up spending your time with the people you have over and not in the kitchen fussing with anything.
COCA COLA BRISKET
1 (12oz) can Coca Cola (not diet) (1 ½ cups)
1 pkg. Dry onion soup
1 (12oz) bottle chili sauce (catsup section)
5-6 lb. Brisket
Heat over to 325.
1.Mix coke, chili sauce and dry soup in large bowl.
2.Cut most of fat off brisket. Place fat side up in 9 x 13 pan. Cover with sauce.
3.Cover with foil. Bake 2 ½ to 3 hours (30 minutes per lb).
Serving Suggestion: Good with French Bread, Coleslaw and Potato Salad.
BeeBee, I can't wait to try this, but I'll have to as my son is back in college, and with just the two of us, well, we'd eat ourselves into extra-fatness.
I can't tell you how much I love reading your blog.
You have so much to say, and you say it so well. You really are in my prayers every day.
Hope you don't mind semi-Catholic prayers!
